Traveling through Africa is an incredible experience. At first I traveled to Ethiopia and the Omo Valley to photograph the tribes that live in that region near the Omo River. The tribes live the way they have done for hundreds of years. The Kara, Hamar, Desanech, and Borana welcomed our group and we were very lucky to be able to photograph them over a period of days. On my next trip I went to the Sanburu and Amboseli National Parks in Kenya. Here I encountered the Sanburu and Masai tribal villages. It was a great experience getting to know them a little and photograph them. My next trip was to the Turkana Festival in Northern Kenya. This area is near Lake Turkana just south of the Omo Valley in Ethiopia. This festival had gathered together about 20 different tribes in separate tents over a small area. It was an amazing experience to have all those tribes together in one place. Great for tribal unity! And lastly, I went to Namibia which is on the western side of Africa above South Africa. There, I photographed the Himba and San Tribes. The Himba live in remote areas of the desert bordering Angola. The San are descendants of the first Homo Sapiens and have the oldest gene pattern of any existing people. With all the tribes there is no running water or toilets. They rub pastes on their skin and if there are waterways near by they bathe there. It is a difficult existence but seeing the love they share with their families and the dedication to the tribe as a whole was very inspiring.
